Listowel Writers Week 2015 Winner Fergus Dunne

Fergus Dunne, 6th Year student at Ashton, currently preparing for Leaving Cert. Examinations, was awarded First Prize in the U18 Creative Writing for Youth category at Listowel Writer’s Week recently, the result of work he completed in English class at Ashton, throughout Junior Cycle years, and in Senior Cycle, guided by his English teacher, Ms. Michelle O’Leary. Fergus was presented with his prize on the Opening night of Listowel Writer’s Week, to warm applause from an appreciative literary audience drawn from around the world, among them, his proud parents, Tom Dunne and Claire O’Halloran. This competition attracts work both nationally and internationally. Festival President Colm Tóibín congratulated Fergus on his success, and wished him  many happy years of writing.   Fergus’s short story is now published in the 2015 Anthology of Winners. Warmest congratulations to Fergus, a most affable, talented young man.  What a great achievement.
