Ashton Matters August 2026
A New School Year at Ashton
Ashton School reopened on Friday, August 28th, welcoming students and staff back for the new school year. It was great to see the school busy again as students returned, caught up with friends, and settled back into school life.
A particular welcome goes to our new First-Year students, who have now officially begun their journey in Ashton. For many of them, starting secondary school is a big step, and it was great to see them arriving and becoming part of the school community.
Our incoming First-Years had already had the chance to get to know Ashton School when they attended their Induction Day in May. They met some of their new classmates and teachers, toured the school and took part in a number of different classes and activities. Teachers demonstrated Science experiments, students cooked in Home Economics, and they also had a lesson on the history of Ashton School. The day gave students a good idea of what to expect and helped make the move to secondary school a little easier when they joined Ashton School in August.
For the rest of the school, the return in August marked the beginning of another busy year. Students across all year groups have returned to their classes and are getting back into the routine of school life.
There is always a great sense of energy around the school at the beginning of a new academic year, with students getting involved in classes, sports, activities and the many events that take place throughout the year.
We would like to wish all our students, especially our new First-Years, a very warm welcome to another year in Ashton. A big thank you also to all the staff and students who helped with the Induction Day and with getting the school ready for the new academic year. We look forward to another successful year together.
Celebrating Our Leaving Certificate Students
On the 21st of August, our previous group of 6th Year students received their Leaving Certificate results, marking the end of their time in Ashton School. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved during their years with us and of the hard work and commitment they have shown along the way.
As they now move on to college, further education, and new job opportunities, we wish each of them every success for the future. We hope that they look back fondly on their time in Ashton, remember the friendships and experiences they made here, and always feel part of the Ashton community.
