On Thursday February 18th, four Transition Year students participated in the Lord Mayor’s debate on the motion that ‘Ireland is better off with the EU’.  This was held in the City Hall Chambers in the presence of eight other schools.

The debate was a great success with Chaia Carroll, Lily Thornhill, Alex O’Donovan and Thibault Loughrey acquitting themselves eloquently and with style, coached by T.Y. Co-Ordinator Ms. Burke and English teacher Ms. Murphy.

The Ashton debating team was one of four teams selected to go to Brussels in Belgium, and visit the European Parliament, which they are eagerly anticipating.

Well done and hearty congratulations to everyone involved in such a great achievement.
