Selection of Senior Cycle Option Subjects for Fifth Year 2020/2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Students in Ashton School normally take seven examination subjects for the Leaving Certificate examination which is taken at the end of Sixth Year.

The seven subjects include English, Irish, and mathematics as core subjects and four other subjects chosen from sixteen option subjects arranged in four blocks.  Students also have classes in SPHE, Guidance, Physical Education and Religious Education as non-examination subjects.

An electronic subject selection form is now available for your son/daughter to access, complete and submit through Microsoft Teams.  Please ensure that you have discussed the matter with your son/daughter before he/she submits the subject selection form.

In order to ensure fair and equal opportunity for all students the following subject selection procedure will apply:

• Completed subject selection forms must be submitted by 12.00 noon on Friday, 8^th May.
• Additional preferences will only be used where classes are oversubscribed.
• Where a class is oversubscribed, it will be a disadvantage to have submitted the form after the deadline.
