French
Leaving Certificate

Caoimhe Neff (5th Year)

For about as long as I can remember, I’ve always been told that I had a talent for talking and communicating with others. Some might say that I didn’t kiss the Blarney Stone but swallowed it! So languages have always been a great passion of mine.

When I started in 1st yr in 2016, I knew I wanted to choose French as my foreign language and it’s safe to say that after 5 years of language learning, I’ve never looked back.

Although grammar and vocabulary is important, teachers here in Ashton greatly emphasise that every student should dive head-first into French culture. We are lucky to have multiple opportunities to fully immerse ourselves in the French way of life with our French Exchange to Pontivy in Brittany, the annual French Breakfast and the French Film Module in TY.

Since studying French in Ashton, I have been introduced into a world of opportunities and I have connected with people all over the world. I hope to study French in university one day and later pursue a career in it.

Every week, I look forward to attending French classes. I highly recommend any student entering 1st yr in Ashton to study French.
