photo 2 (2)Ashton U13 and U14 Soccer teams recently returned from an exciting trip to Blackpool in England over the Easter term, accompanied by Coaches Ian Cunningham, Stephen Bermingham,  Declan Coleman, Aidan Buckley, and 5th year students Ross Welch, David McSweeney, Marc O’Neill.

The U13 soccer team beat Red Star BK from Denmark 6-0, an outstanding result.  They proceeded to the final playing Morecombe Hawks,  and despite true grit and determination, were beaten in a game that went to penalties.  A superb achievement.

Ashton’s U14 team beat W Always Forwards from Holland ensuring they went through to the final.  The final was played against AFC Blayney, Co. Monaghan, who defeated Ashton having participated in a skilful and sporting game of soccer.  Congratulations to everyone involved for the diligence and  sportsmanship displayed.  Students  did themselves, their parents, and Ashton proud.
