An extravaganza of ‘Elf’ the musical at Ashton!

Ashton School Players, directed by Mr. Drew Ruttle brought the audiences to their feet once again with their presentation of ‘Elf’ the musical, which was held recently in the Physical Education Hall at Ashton School.

Tickets sold fast and seats filled to maximum capacity.  Audiences were charmed by the colour and the excitement of the presentation of this Christmas themed show.  Rehearsals started the previous September, and  had gone on at ‘ a pace of knots’ prior to the full week of shows, which included a matinee for over 300  5th and 6th class primary school students.  The ‘awe and wonder’ factor really came out in force that day!

Costumes, stage settings and back-drops were well crafted, colourful, and added a strong sense of place and setting for this well known musical. Lighting added an extra dimension of meaning to the presentations, the result of much hard work of everyone involved.

Mr. Ruttle was thrilled with the result of all the dedicated rehearsal work, culminating in a ‘polished performance’ by the cast, who seamlessly assumed their roles with style and panache.  Always looked forward to on the school calendar, never disappoints.
