Junior Cycle
Music
Students at Ashton sample Music for two weeks at the beginning of first year. Once they choose music, they follow the course through until the end of third year. Students who do music enjoy exploring the new Junior Cycle Music Curriculum. The three main strands of learning are:-
- Creating and Exploring
- Participating and Music Making
- Appraising and Responding
Students at Ashton School are given many opportunities to develop each of these skills at all levels.
In Second Year the students create a Portfolio of two compositions for CBA 1.
In Third Year students create a Programme Note
They also perform three pieces for their Performance Examination
At the end of third year, they complete a written examination.
