Engineering Trip for Fifth Years to DePuy Synthes
Fifth year Engineering Class students at Ashton School, Blackrock Road had the privilege of experiencing a visit to DePuy Synthes, (Companies of Johnson and Johnson), organised by Mr. Liam Keohane, Engineering Teacher at Ashton. Located at Ringaskiddy, the plan manufactures biomedical devices for the health industry.
Students were met on arrival by past-pupil Mr. Robert Hobbs, Engineering Manager, who showed them around the facility, which was undertaken as part of Engineer’s Week. The students got a tour of the entire plant, and participated in a design workshop, and a manufacturing workshop.
Amongst other Engineering Department staff who made presentations to the students, Donal Og Cusack, well known Cork hurler, made a lasting impression on them. They learned much which will be of great use to them as they complete course-work as part of the Leaving Certificate examinations ultimately.
