Transition Year Mini-Company enthused.
Mini Company students in Transition Year were enthused to meet and listen to Mr. Kevin O’Leary (a parent) speak of his experiences of setting up a business – QUMAS, a software company in Cork almost twenty years ago. He spoke of the challenges in setting up a business, and of the wonderful opportunities it presented, and the fun!
He advised students to ensure they had clear lines of communication, a company structure, a suitable product and /or service to address the needs of their target market. The importance of the group to work as a team, to collaborate, to generate product ideas, and to accurately record all decisions and actions was emphasised.
Mr. O’Leary stated that through involvement in Mini-Company, students were being presented with an exciting opportunity to experience the world of business, and to explore their entrepreneurial skills. Transition Year students were inspired and motivated by Mr.O’Leary’s presentation and his practical advice.
Mr. McCarthy, Ms. Kerins, and the students thanked Mr. O’Leary for his time and motivational presentation, along with his offer of further assistance.
