Transition Year students present cheque to Concern

The Ashton Transition Year carried on a tradition of a 24-hr fast to raise funds for Concern and Christian Aid that has been going since 1992. A group of five pupils organised the event and forty pupils took part. The pupils stayed in school overnight,  and had a breakfast together early on Friday morning. They worked a normal day in school and understood the challenge of being hungry and tired, and still having to do a full day of work.

The photo shows Claire O’Carroll Concern accepting the cheque from Michael Shiel Lantry top fundraiser, Lydia French organising committee, concern 2015 a and Carmel Desmond supervising teacher. Other Transition Year students in the photo are part of the entire student cohort who took part in the Fast.
